The Māori word Maru is taken from Psalm 91:1, where taumarumarutanga is translated as shadow. Tau means come to rest, and marumaru means shade or sheltered.
By design, Te Maru is a place of rest and of protection – we’re building a strong shelter that will support and strengthen our camps and our people for generations to come.
This concept is reflected in our logo, which incorporates the idea of a wharenui (communal meeting house) – a place of welcome, shelter and care.

Hosting and providing camps, events and occasions that change lives.
